Cushion Foundation Battle: YSL vs Dior

I've owned YSL cushion for a long time (cause I'm a YSL fangirl) but today I'm gonna show you why I might be a convert to Dior cushion.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present you:

YSL Le Cushion Encre De Peau (shade 10) and Dior Forever Couture Skin Glow Cushion (shade 0N)

Packaging:
  • Since I've always carried my YSL everywhere, I know that the gold paint can get scratched over time and peeled off and not looking so fancy anymore. While Dior packaging is just dark coloured plastic with no paint over it, I think it would still look gorgeous for awhile.
  • The YSL puff used to have the YSL logo in gold colour, but now you can barely see any logo on it because it's black. The brand logo is still there if you look closely, but it looks just like a plain black cushion puff now (whoever changed the design needs to get fired). Meanwhile Dior puff looks so elegant with the white puff and the brand name can be seen clearly on it.
  • Bonus point for Dior packaging for being less bulky and taking less space in my purse.

SPF:
  • Compared to YSL's SPF 23 PA++, Dior SPF 50 PA+++ makes me happy.

Top: YSL. Bottom: Dior

Formula wise, I feel that YSL is more buildable and has runnier consistency. Dior has thicker consistency that can give more coverage and staying power (it lives up to the *24 hours of wear and coverage* claim)

All photos above were taken with camera phone and no filter. I think YSL has slightly warmer/yellowish tone? It was not a problem for me, but now I realised that Dior matches with my neck skin better, in any lighting. Do you agree? Let me know in the comment ;)

Foundation Swatches

I will begin to share some swatches of my makeup collection, since I have so many of them. I've been buying and trying different products, trying to find my HG, so I thought it might be useful for some of you who are also in the same journey ;)

Pictured above:
  • Espoir Pro Tailor Foundation Be Glow (#03 Ivory)
  • Giverny Milchak Cover Foundation (#17 Porcelain)
  • Innisfree Velvet Cover Foundation (C21 Pink Ivory)
  • Fenty Beauty Pro Filt'r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation (#110 light with cool pink undertone)

As you can see I have the typical East Asian light skin colour. Fenty Beauty that I have is way too light, but the rest of their options are too dark or too yellow for me. I usually mix it with Innisfree.

Recently I discovered Giverny and Espoir (thanks to Miyawaki Sakura). I was so surprised that Giverny matches so well with my skin tone.

I'll post a review about how these foundations look on my face, if I had time :p
